The 2011 meet was a resounding success! This year, attendees celebrated the newest generation of My Little Pony; Known as G4 to many, this newest generation was developed for television by Lauren Faust, now known around the world as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
This year's custom contest theme reflected upon the introduction of G4. Participants were asked to make any Friendship is Magic character into a different generation (G1, G2, etc). There were a great number of fantastic entries--see the photos below for some of these amazing customs!
One of the new surprises this year was the Sea Pony Quarter Drop, wherein participants dropped quarters into a specially designed tank. Quarters that landed on one of three small platforms earned the participant a prize. All proceeds went toward the cost of the MD Meet.
The meet was also held predominantly outdoors, in a large tent which accommodated all of the attendees who required table space. Parking was improved, and the availability of food was made more budget-friendly and more effective for the large number of attendees and their guests.
Special thanks is much deserved by Foresight (mother of collector Hindsight) for her enthusiastic volunteering contributions, to the generous members who sold what became some of the meet's prize donations at very reasonable prices, and of course the invaluable MD Meet Committee.
